The National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) Property-Casualty Committee, chaired by Representative Steve Riggs (KY), discussed proposed travel insurance models on a conference call Monday. The legislators called upon industry to try to forge some compromise language in time for the next NCOIL meeting in Point Clear, AL November 15-18. The “Limited Lines Travel Insurance Model Act” was sponsored for discussion by Representative Damron (KY). The model defines a limited lines travel insurance producer and sets forth requirements for them such as identifying the producer and providing contact information to the consumer. The U.S. Travel Insurance Association (UStiA) supports the NCOIL model and sent a letter urging adoption.
