After a California-based insurance broker, Adriana Insurance Service, agreed to pay $21,000 to settle a lawsuit, the company paid the plaintiff in coins. Andres Carrasco, 76, had alleged in the lawsuit that he was physically assaulted by a company employee.

The settlement was reached in June, and the Rancho Cucamonga-based broker delivered partial payment in the form of a check, but also tried to leave buckets of loose change in the plaintiff’s lawyer’s East Los Angeles office, attorney Antonio Gallo said. Eight employees arrived at the lawyer’s office while he was in court and left 16 big buckets of quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies in the building’s lobby. “It’s insulting to my client. He’s 76 years old, he just had a hernia operation. Come on,” Gallo said. No comment yet from the broker on the public relations disaster.
