The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) released its 2013 Annual Report, “State-Based Insurance Regulation: The System at Work.” The report uses the concept of gears to illustrate how regulators work together to power the complex system of state-based regulation.

“This past year, state insurance regulators faced myriad challenges on local, national and international fronts,” said NAIC Chief Executive Officer Sen. Ben Nelson. “However, NAIC members worked collaboratively to tackle healthcare reform implementation, contribute to international standard-setting and help consumers recover from natural disasters, to name a few. With this in mind, the theme of this year’s annual report highlights the strength of our regulatory system and how it is at its best when we all work together.”
