A new report from the National Research Council (NRC) concludes that a national vision for coastal risk management is needed to reduce the impacts of natural disasters along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States. Such a vision needs to include a long-term view, regional solutions, and recognition of the full array of economic, social, environmental and safety benefits that come from risk management.
