LA Floods

A new report indicates that the historic flooding to hit Louisiana in August could cost nearly $15 billion, and about 80 percent of the homes affected were not covered by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). More than 110,000 homes were damaged and almost as many vehicles. Gov. John Bel Edwards has requested a $2 billion bailout package in addition to the money the federal government has already pledged to cover the flooding. On Sept. 9, he told the House Oversight & Government Reform Subcommittee, “Simply put, we cannot recover without it.”
