The U.S. House approved, by a vote of 407 to 1, legislation to ensure the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) insurance expert can remain for an additional 18 months when his term expires, or until a replacement is named. The term for the current FSOC insurance expert, S. Roy Woodall, expires on Sept. 27. He is the only member of the council with insurance expertise, even though the FSOC is charged with identifying banks and nonbanks that are systemically important.
