On Dec. 18, the U.S. House unveiled the details of its $81 billion disaster aid package, which is split between Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and those states hit by recent wildfires. If approved, Congress will have spent more than $130 billion on hurricane and wildfire recovery, more than it spent on aid after both Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy. House GOP leaders plan to approve the 184-page package this week, either as part of a stopgap funding bill or as a standalone bill.
