Industry Gains 2,300 Jobs in May

The insurance industry gained 2,300 jobs in June from May, according to preliminary figures from the U.S. Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The insurance industry gained 2,300 jobs in June from May, according to preliminary figures from the U.S. Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. Updated preliminary estimates for May show the industry gained 4,200 jobs compared with the final April number, as opposed to the 2,600-job gain initially reported.

Seven of eight insurance industry sectors showed slight job increases in May over April. insurance agencies and brokerages were up 0.01% to 809,000 jobs. On an annual basis, average weekly wages increased in five of seven insurance sectors in May 2018 over May 2017, led by insurance agencies and brokerages (up 4.85%).
