WASHINGTON, June 12, 2003 - PIA Connection, the monthly publication of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents, has been named Best Print Publication for 2003 by the Professional Insurance Communicators of America (PICA). The award was presented June 9 during the PICA annual meeting in Chicago.

PIA Connection "is very relevant to the audience with a clearly stated goal that the publication meets," said the PICA evaluation. "Stories are well written -- they get to the point quickly. Good use of quotes and sources. Your stories bring the world down to the local level. Extremely effective."

"This prestigious recognition validates a decision made three years ago to move to a format for our print publication that is more timely and more focused on the needs of PIA members," said PIA National Executive Vice President Gary W. Eberhart. "The success of PIA Connection is a great demonstration of the dedication, professionalism and talents of our PIA National staff."

"PIA National Vice President of Communications Ted Besesparis has nurtured and developed this publication from its very beginning," Eberhart said. "He has been greatly supported by Managing Editor Alexi Papandon and the national staff who provide content and are dedicated to the success of PIA and its members."

Second place honors in the PICA competition for Best Print Publication went to Viewpoint, published by the American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS); third place went to The Ohio Insurance Forum/The OII Review published by the Ohio Insurance Institute.
