April 8, 2006, in Arlington, Virginia.

Steve Standridge of Mt. Ida, Arkansas has been named the 2006 PIA National Professional Agent of the Year. The award is the highest individual honor bestowed by PIA to a member agent.

Standridge established the Standridge Insurance Agency in 1982, starting with one small office and one employee. By 2006, his business had grown to 19 offices.

"Steve's agency has been the #1 agency in the nation with State Auto Insurance for 3 years," said PIA National President Ray Peretti, who presented the award. "He is #1 in the nation with 2 other of his companies, and #2 with several others."

Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (R) sent a letter of congratulations to Standridge to be read as part of the PIA presentation.

"Our winner has influenced 27 agencies to join PIA," Peretti said. "He served on his state PIA board for four years, two of them as Treasurer. He was his state's Agent of the Year in 2000. Steve Standridge is an outstanding agent who exemplifies the best of what it means to be a PIA Agent."
