Jim Goodman, the new President of PIA of Connecticut, has a tip for young people considering careers: Think insurance. Goodman runs Goodman Insurance Inc., which has been in his family for close to 50 years. He's been in insurance for 25 years, and he's been active with the PIA for nearly all those years. Goodman says colleges are showing more interest in insurance-related careers, and he says the Professional Insurance Agents chapter for Connecticut already has a program under way with Capital Community College in Hartford to foster more interest in the insurance profession.

"We're really focusing on youth ... because our industry is getting older and we need some young people," says Goodman. The PIA association in Connecticut already has an active Young Insurance Professionals group, which is working diligently to encourage interest in the industry. Goodman discusses the drive to attract young agents in the online newspaper, The Day.
