Our very long term and greatly admired leader of the PIA of Hawaii, Don Allen, 89, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 29th.

The following was sent from PIA of Hawaii:  "Don was in the hospital and a day prior told a close friend that he would be home on Sunday. This was very typical of the strong mind and will of Don, who has bounced back on his feet on every occasion except for this one. I am sure all of our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his wife, Joan."

Don Allen is survived by wife Joan D.; sons John D. III and Donald B.; daughter Patricia; sister Clare Kleutz; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for September 9th, Thursday at the Kalama Beach Club at 4:00 p.m., followed by the scattering of Don's ashes in Kailua Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations be sent in Don's name to:

Shriner's Hospital
c/o Aloha Temple AAO NMS
1611 Kewalo Street
Honolulu, HI. 96822

Sympathy notes and cards may be sent to:
