On August 16, 2011, while Congress is on recess and our elected officials are back home in their district offices, PIA will be bringing Capitol Hill to Main Street.

We are asking each PIA member to schedule visits to their Members of Congress, or have them visit your office for a group meeting with your staff on or near August 16, which has been designated as PIA's 2011 District Lobbying Day (DLD).  This is your chance to talk about a few issues that concern you as an independent agent and small businessperson. If you're further inclined to get involved in a future reelection campaign, this is a great time to let the candidate know that you are a supporter and want to help.

PIA's legislative strategy is built on advocacy, engagement and involvement year-round.Throughout each year, PIA uses many "touch points" - the Federal Legislative Summit (FLS), District Lobbying Day (DLD), Grassroots Action Alerts and PIA lobbyist visits to Capitol Hill to forge and maintain close relationships with the key decision makers who have an impact on the success of our agencies.

To access all the tools you will need to schedule and conduct a district lobbying visit, go to the DLD webpage. Be sure to visit the Events Page at the PIA National Facebook page to learn more details as we get closer! As PIA's 2011 District Lobbying Day approaches, please plan to take action!

Please contact Mike Becker, PIA National Director of Federal Affairs, with any questions at mikebe@pianet.org or 703-518-1365.
