Join your PIA colleagues March 21-22 for the 2012 PIA Federal Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C. That’s when PIA members from around the country meet with elected representatives to tell them firsthand how legislation they are contemplating affects independent insurance agents and the customers they serve.

The summit begins March 21 with an FLS briefing and Q&A session, held at the Marriott Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia, PIA’s headquarters hotel. The following morning, March 22, participants will begin their day with a breakfast program featuring remarks by PIA leaders and Members of Congress.

Following breakfast, PIA members will spend a full day of scheduled meetings with lawmakers in their offices. At day’s end, FLS participants can enjoy a reception for all attendees to recap the day and share stories from their visits. The reception will be followed by the annual fundraising and awards dinner of the PIA Political Action Committee (PIAPAC).

“Many of the issues of critical importance to professional insurance agents are in play in Congress this year,” said Timothy G. Russell, CPCU, a member of the PIA National Government Affairs Committee. “That’s why it’s important that PIA members connect with their elected representatives on Capitol Hill, up close and personal. It gives lawmakers the opportunity to meet with Main Street insurance agents from their districts who do business with real people, in the real world.”
