PIA National President Tom Adderhold addressed the annual convention of PIA of North Dakota in Bismarck on Monday May 7.

Adderhold complimented the members of PIA of North Dakota for their high level of involvement in advocacy, sending more agents to the PIA Federal Legislative Summit every year. “So let me start off by saying ‘thank you’ for all you do, on behalf of all your fellow agents around the country,” said Adderhold.

“PIA opposes federal regulation of insurance,” Adderhold said. “We are strong supporters of state insurance regulation. We believe the North Dakota Department of Insurance does a great job and doesn’t need orders handed down from Washington, D.C.!”

Adderhold added that in addition to crop insurance, another issue that is tops on PIA’s agenda is obtaining a five-year reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). “In fact, tomorrow morning PIA is launching a major grassroots action alert – along with many other groups – called ‘Flood the Hill.’ We’ll be flooding Capitol Hill with messages from PIA members, urging Congress to pass a multi-year extension of the National Flood Insurance Program.”
