On August 14, 2012, while Congress is on recess and our elected officials are back home in their district offices, PIA will once again bring Capitol Hill to Main Street.

We are asking each PIA member to schedule visits to their Members of Congress, or have them visit your office for a group meeting with your staff on or near August 14, which has been designated as PIA’s 2012 District Lobbying Day (DLD). This is your chance to talk about the issues that concern you as an independent agent and small businessperson.

PIA’s legislative strategy is built on advocacy, engagement and involvement year-round. Throughout each year, PIA uses many “focal points” – the Federal Legislative Summit (FLS), District Lobbying Day (DLD), Grassroots Action Alerts and PIA lobbyist visits to Capitol Hill to forge and maintain close relationships with the key decision makers who have an impact on the success of our agencies.

To access all the tools you will need to schedule and conduct a district lobbying visit, go to the DLD webpage. As PIA’s 2012 District Lobbying Day approaches, please plan to take action!

Have a question? Please feel free to contact PIA National’s Legislative Assistant Julia Domagalski at juliado@pianet.org or (703) 518-1364.
