Ten years ago, a battle began that threatened the livelihoods of independent agents and brokers. PIA led a multi-year fight against then-New York Attorney General and later defrocked Gov. Eliot Spitzer, to defend the incomes and reputations of Professional Insurance Agents. It was a long battle—but we won. The retrospective also includes excerpts of a report about PIA's legal brief in Rough Notes ("How Main Street Agents Got Tarred by Eliot Spitzer"), written by the late dean of insurance reporters, Emanuel Levy.
