PIA members across America are discovering the many advantages of using DocIT for Agents, one of PIA’s newest member-only services. We recently sat down with Erin Reilly from Drivers History, Inc., the creator of DocIT for Agents, to speak about the program.

PIA. WHAT is DocIT for Agents?

REILLY. DocIT for Agents is a comprehensive, real-time database containing traffic violations (tickets) obtained directly from jurisdictional courts. It is NOT the same as the state motor vehicle report (MVR), although it contains much of the same information – just at a fraction of the cost.

PIA. What are the benefits of using DocIT for Agents at Point of Quote?

REILLY. Agents find that by helping people have a more accurate recollection of their driving infractions they are able to ensure that prospective clients are priced and properly placed with the correct carrier given their risk profile earlier in the quoting process.

PIA. How are agencies utilizing DocIT for Agents today?

REILLY. We find agents use DocIT for Agents in a variety of ways:

  • To verify or prompt an applicant for accurate violation recall
  • To discover violations for additional drivers in a household
  • To generate more accurate quotes and align applicants to the right carrier the first time
  • To provide a more positive customer experience
  • To enable a customer not interested in price to self-select out earlier in the process
  • To understand violation history before the 1st call-back on Internet Leads to prepare an initial quote
  • To significantly reduce their agency’s MVR expense

PIA. Where are agents finding success using DocIT for Agents?

REILLY. Agents are utilizing DocIT for Agents at Rate Call 1 when screening an applicant. By utilizing DocIT for Agents producers stop relying on self-admission violation history data and create the most accurate quote that is less likely to change at Rate Call 2 (after the agent pulls the MVR.) As the producer, you will no longer be at the mercy of an applicant’s faulty memory or false declarations regarding past motor vehicle violations.

PIA. How much are agencies saving today by using DocIT for Agents?

REILLY. Agents in certain states have seen a 100% savings to their current MVR spending at Rate-Call 1 by using DocIT for Agents.

PIA. Does an agent need to pull an MVR after using DocIT for Agents?

REILLY. Yes, but the agent will only need to order an MVR once, when the applicant is ready to bind!

PIA. Does your web portal supply instant driving violation data?

REILLY. DocIT for Agents is a 24/7, real-time, comprehensive drivers violation report that features a complete motor vehicle description and detail.

PIA. What is the cost of DocIT for Agents?

REILLY. Because this is a PIA member exclusive benefit, you must be an active PIA member in order to access DocIT for Agents. The cost for this service is $50/month which includes 67 searches per agency every month. All searches after that will cost 75 cents per search.

For example: if your agency has 100 searches in a month the bill would be $75.

PIA. Is there a commitment for DocIT for Agents?

REILLY. Originally DocIT for Agents was a 12 month commitment. We now allowing agencies to test drive the service for 60 days before locking into a 1-year subscription. We want to allow agencies to test this in their Point of Quote process and be sure it will benefit the agency.

PIA. How can we get signed up?

REILLY. We offer many ways for agents to get acclimated to DocIT for Agents. To learn more and sign up for a free webinar please visit PIA’s website at www.pianet.com/DocITforAgents. You may also contact me at PIA@drivershistory.com or 856.673.1286.
