The National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) met from February 27 to March 1, in Charleston, South Carolina. Legislators at the meeting discussed numerous issues related to insurance policy, including consideration of model laws on the regulation of professional employment organizations (PEOs), regulation of ride sharing insurance, and regulation of roofing contractors, among other issues. PIA testified alongside other industry stakeholders regarding the PEO model law. PIA asked that the model law be opened up to address a more comprehensive set of issues related to PEOs. In response, NCOIL will be forming a task force to consider all issues that should be addressed in the model law. PIA will participate with this task force and is monitoring the progress of the other two model laws.

NCOIL is an organization of state legislators whose main area of public policy concern is insurance legislation and regulation. Many legislators active in NCOIL either chair or are members of the committees responsible for insurance legislation in their respective state houses across the country.
