Financial Services Committee Chairman Cites Ohio Agent's Dedication as Leader of PIA

WASHINGTON, October 13, 2004 - Carl Stoecklin has received a commendation in the Congressional Record, upon the completion of his term as President of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA). The commendation was extended by the Chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services, Rep. Michael Oxley (R-Ohio).

Carl Stoecklin"Mr. Speaker, I would like to commend the attention of the U.S. House of Representatives to Carl G. Stoecklin upon the completion of his term as President of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents," said Oxley, in remarks extended September 22, 2004 and printed in the Congressional Record. "Carl Stoecklin is a pillar of the insurance community in the State of Ohio."

"Carl has served in many positions of responsibility in PIA for the past quarter century, including as President of the Ohio affiliate of the PIA and for the last year as the President of the national association," Oxley's statement continues. "His dedication to the highest standards of professionalism as an insurance agent has earned Carl the respect of his friends, associates and business colleagues, and of the insurance industry as a whole."

Stoecklin was named Professional Agent of the Year by PIA of Ohio in 1995, and he received the Dow Reichley Award from PIA of Ohio in 1985. He has served on the national association's board of directors since 1993. Stoecklin was elected president-elect of PIA National in 2002-2003. He served almost two years as president, first filling out the term of a president who had resigned due to health reasons, before serving his own one-year term.

"This honor from Rep. Oxley, the most influential member of the House when it comes to insurance issues, is especially fitting," said PIA National Executive Vice President and CEO Len Brevik. "Carl Stoecklin's many selfless contributions to the betterment of PIA have positioned our association to be the association of choice for all independent insurance agents for many years to come."

Founded in 1931, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees who sell and service all kinds of insurance, but specialize in coverage of automobiles, homes and businesses.
