WASHINGTON, January 10, 2005 - The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA National) is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Learn.net to launch a new on-line CE and Professional Skills Education Center for member and non-member agents at the PIA National web site, www.PIANET.com/Education.

This initial launch serves the states of Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia. Agents in these states can access the program through their local PIA affiliate web sites or through PIA National's web site. Additional states will be added later.

"PIA is excited to be able to offer agents and their employees the opportunity to take high-quality, low-cost on-line courses," said PIA National President Terry Adams. "Many agents, customer service representatives and other agency personnel are simply too busy to travel to classes. Others simply prefer the convenience of taking classes at their desk, starting, stopping and then restarting courses when it's convenient for them. Many individuals who might have otherwise put off a needed class will now be more likely to enroll and hone their skills. That will give them and their agencies a competitive edge."

PIA National has launched the new educational initiative as part of a partnership with Learn.net, a leader in online education. Through the program, PIA state and regional affiliate associations have the opportunity to offer continuing education (CE) and non-CE skills training courses through their association web sites and PIA National's web site. Up to 70 CE courses and over 2000 non-CE computer, business, and technical on-line courses may be made available to both PIA members and non-members.

"Participating PIA affiliates will be able to augment their existing educational programs, such as CIC, CISR, and CPSR, with top-flight online courses that are competitively priced," said Adams. "The on-line Professional Skills courses offer agency personnel a quality, economical way to improve personal skills in areas such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, sales skills, presentation skills and much more. Agencies can utilize courses in Sexual Harassment, Diversity, etc. to meet compliance requirements. Learn.net has really developed a comprehensive, top-notch program."

"We are very pleased that in just a few months the agreement to partner with PIA has produced an in-operation capability that will continue to grow. This fast action is the result of PIA's unequaled commitment to continually provide benefits to its members and to the industry," said Larry Duckworth, President & CEO of Learn.net. "PIA's proactive attitude has been impressive. The insurance industry will be the beneficiary."

As explained by Len Brevik, executive vice president and CEO of PIA National, "PIA members and non-members can access a wide variety of P&C and L&H classes, with new and topical classes added regularly. One low price includes testing and fast CE filing, making this truly the most convenient and economical way for insurance professionals to satisfy their educational requirements while staying on top of their game. On-line Professional Skills courses can be purchased individually or in discounted bundles."

"Not only are these courses highly educational, but by being able to avoid the time and travel costs of classroom training, sales productivity can go up and learning costs can go down. That is a 1+1=3 gain for agents and others, and we are proud to provide that capability."

Founded in 1931, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees who sell and service all kinds of insurance, but specialize in coverage of automobiles, homes and businesses. Visit PIA at www.PIANET.com.
