WASHINGTON, January 10, 2005 - Leonard C. Brevik, executive vice president and CEO of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) has been named one of the top 100 most powerful people in the insurance industry for 2004-2005. The annual ranking is published by the daily insurance newsletter, Insurance Newscast.

"I am honored and humbled by my inclusion on this listing," said Brevik. "And it is especially gratifying to be sharing this recognition with so many other individuals who care so deeply about the insurance industry. This is truly recognition of PIA as an association, the volunteer leaders who guide it and our professional staff that is dedicated to providing our members with their best."

Walt Podgurski, Chairman and CEO of Insurance Newscast's parent corporation, InsuranceBroadcasting.com, says the list is an attempt to express who controls the most insurance industry resources (people, capital, intellectual knowledge, technology, etc.) or has the most influence on those resources.  "As we mention each year, it is important to note that no one on the list asked to be on the list, and many might even be a bit uncomfortable to be on a 'power' list," said Podgurski.

Brevik joined PIA National as executive vice president and CEO on April 1, 2004. Previously, he served as chief marketing officer and vice president of business development for the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers (NAIFA).  From 1989 to 2000, Brevik held executive positions with the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) and its subsidiary organizations. He was executive director of two IIABA subsidiaries, the Agents Council for Technology and Future One. Brevik also served as IIABA director of state government affairs, vice president of state government affairs, chief information officer and senior vice president of association affairs.

"We are pleased that our chief executive officer Len Brevik has received this recognition among his peers," said PIA National President-elect Ray Peretti, who also serves as executive liaison to the association's carrier advisory group, the PIA Company Council of Executive Officers (PIA-CCEO).

Nutter, President, Reinsurance Association of America (RAA); Adelia C. Chung, 2005 President of the Million Dollar Round Table; House Financial Services Committee Chairman Michael G.
