WASHINGTON, December 14, 2006  - Veteran journalist and commentator Morton M. Kondracke will deliver the keynote address during the 2007 Federal Legislative Summit held March 28-29 in Washington, D.C. by the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA).

Kondracke is a regular commentator for the Fox News Channel, where he serves as co-host of the weekly political show, The Beltway Boys and is a nightly "all stars" panelist on Special Report with Brit Hume. He is the executive editor and columnist for Roll Call, Capitol Hill's feisty independent newspaper. In addition, the conservative commentator writes a twice-weekly syndicated column on national politics.

Kondracke was the winner of the 2006 pre-election Crystal Ball contest, a competition conducted by the Washington Post in which political pundits predicted the outcome of the midterm Congressional election. He previously won the competition in 1994, when he predicted the Republican takeover of Congress.

"Among all the political pundits in Washington, Morton Kondracke is one who not only knows what's happening, but he also knows what is going to happen," said PIA Executive Vice President and CEO Len Brevik. "Morton correctly predicted both major shifts in power that have occurred on Capitol Hill in the past 12 years. PIA members will benefit greatly from the insights of such an astute observer of the political scene. His track record proves he's the best."

Before becoming the executive editor and columnist of Roll Call, Kondracke served as executive editor and senior editor of The New Republic from 1977-1991. He was Washington bureau chief of Newsweek and was a regular panelist on "This Week with David Brinkley," and a columnist for The Wall Street Journal.

Kondracke chronicled his wife Milly's struggle with Parkinson's disease in his 2001 book entitled Saving Milly. Personally and professionally dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease, he is a member of both the Parkinson's Action Network and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Founded in 1931, and celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2006, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees who sell and service all kinds of insurance, but specialize in coverage of automobiles, homes and businesses. PIA members are Local Agents Serving Main Street America(SM).
