WASHINGTON, May 1, 2007  - Agency perpetuation is a key priority for both independent insurance agencies and their carrier partners. That's why Perpetuation Central, a tool to assist agency owners plan their perpetuation activities, is being embraced by Motorists Mutual Insurance Company, which will present it during its regional meetings with agency owners in May.

Created by The Partnership, the agency-company group of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA), Perpetuation Central is an online reference and resource center for agents to access as they plan and implement agency perpetuation or other forms of agency ownership transfer.

"One of the most important services that PIA or any company can offer an agent is help with the complex process of perpetuating an agency," said Grady Campbell, vice president of property/casualty marketing for Motorists Mutual.

"Motorists Mutual's efforts to help agents with perpetuation mesh very well with PIA's Perpetuation Central, and that's one big reason why we're proud to participate in The Partnership," Campbell said. "Successful agency perpetuation contributes to our success, too."

Campbell said that more agency owners are now receptive to putting perpetuation on their list of things to do, but often put it off because they're not sure how to start planning. "That's why we like the Perpetuation Central tool so much; it's a non-invasive way to get them started in the right direction," Campbell said.

"Our relationship with independent agents is really our competitive strategic advantage," Campbell said. "We know that if we have good relationships with agencies, they're going to give us a crack at their best business and we're going to earn our share of it. Without that, we're just another company in a crowded field."

In addition, Motorists Mutual has announced a branding partnership with the PIA. Motorists' independent agents can take part in the PIA's Branding Program, Local Agents Serving Main Street America(SM), and Motorists will include this brand advertising in its co-op program for eligible agents.

Motorists Mutual is the lead company in The Motorists Insurance Group. The group of companies is composed of nine property and casualty, life and brokerage companies that operate in 35 states. At year-end 2006, the group of companies had $625 million in net written premium and $654 million in policyholder security funds. For more information visit www.motoristsinsurancegroup.com.
