PIA Member Agents Encouraged to Nominate a Deserving Agency CSR

WASHINGTON, December 14, 2009  - The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA National) is joining with The Hartford to honor an outstanding customer service representative (CSR) who works for a member of the association.

The Hartford will sponsor the annual PIA National Customer Service Representative of the Year Award, which will be presented during an awards ceremony and luncheon on March 20, 2010 in Arlington, Virginia.

"Customer service representatives form the backbone of the agency business," said PIA National President Jon Spalding. "The Hartford's ongoing commitment to its partnership with professional insurance agents is exemplary and its dedication to recognizing the key role customer service representatives play in our agencies strengthens that partnership."

The PIA National Customer Service Representative (CSR) of the Year Award is given annually to an outstanding agency customer service representative who works for a PIA member insurance agency. Nominations for this award are made by PIA members. The award recognizes a CSR who has improved operations of the agency, served their clients in a unique or extraordinary way and engaged in community involvement and activities to advance the betterment of the insurance industry.

The Hartford is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the PIA National CSR of the Year award. "For 200 years, The Hartford has been committed to excellent customer service," said Juan Andrade, President and Chief Operating Officer, Property and Casualty Operations, The Hartford. "As we celebrate our bicentennial in 2010, we are excited to recognize the industry's finest CSRs for the role they play in providing exceptional service for their customers."

The PIA National CSR of the Year Award will be presented during an awards luncheon on March 20, 2010 in Arlington, Virginia, held in conjunction with the 2010 PIA Federal Legislative Summit and Spring 2010 PIA National Board of Directors and committee meetings.

In addition to the CSR award, PIA will name the 2010 Professional Agent of the Year and Young Insurance Professional of the Year during the March 20, 2010 luncheon ceremony. PIA's three other major national awards - the Company Award of Excellence, the Managing General Agency of the Year and the Company Representative of the Year - will be presented in Traverse City, Michigan on October 2, 2010, in conjunction with the association's fall meetings.

Founded in 1931, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees who sell and service all kinds of insurance, but specialize in coverage of automobiles, homes and businesses.
