Alexi Papandon, assistant vice president of communications at the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA)WASHINGTON, February 19, 2010  - The American Society of Association Executives has announced that Alexi Papandon, assistant vice president of communications at the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA), has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential. The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry.  Less than five percent of all association professionals have earned the CAE.

"PIA is very proud to congratulate Alexi on earning the CAE designation," said PIA National Senior Vice President of Communications Ted Besesparis. "His record of outstanding achievement, dedication and professionalism benefits the members of our association and his colleagues here at PIA's headquarters."

To be designated as a Certified Association Executive, an applicant must have a minimum of three years experience in nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 75 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. To maintain the certification, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management. More than 3,600 association professionals currently hold the CAE credential.  2010 marks the 50th anniversary of the CAE program.

In his role at PIA, Papandon launched the award winning PIA Branding Program, oversees advertising sales, markets PIA membership and member benefits, and manages the association's website. Papandon is currently working on the June 2010 launch of a new annual publication, the PIA National Agency Marketing Guide.

Papandon lives in Vienna, Virginia with his wife and two children.
